Pacific Crest Trail (2018) 30: Middle of the Spiral (1)

Ashland is a nice city, clean and pretty in the way of small cities. The walk signals talk at you and the transfer scanner on the buses shows you an image of your transfer as you scan. I had five resupplies to plan, so mostly saw the grocery stores. The Shop n’ Kart is definitely the best, such variety! They even sell geodes, a staple for every hiker’s pack.

Re: my gear problems. I bought normal batteries for my headlamp and the headlamp worked with those, so the problem must be the rechargeable battery. I didn’t replace my Nalgene because the gear shop didn’t have an exact replica of the one I lost (visualize the person who clones their dog when the first one dies). Making four resupply boxes was a bugger, but at least I’m set for awhile. Leaving Ashland tomorrow.
