Pacific Crest Trail (2018) Pre-Hike 2: Progress

I received a second set of x-rays and they confirmed no fracture, so the doctor gave me permission to stop using crutches. At first my food didn’t hurt and I thought it might be miraculously healed, but it became sore with a small amount of use… nonetheless it’s much improved from before and I’m overjoyed to be walking on the leg again. I can carry things with both hands! I’m all stealthy like a ninja instead of sounding like someone falling down a flight of stairs!

I’m also excited because I got a new toy. For all of my trips so far I’ve used the orange plastic trowel (you know the one) that only cost 2.75 CAD (hell yeah) but dug through hard desert soil with the efficiency of my knuckles. I finally relented and bought this sharp little metal sucker with serrated edges. I’m looking forwards to trying it out.
